Fantastic belly dancing teacher training workshop with Joany Gauvreau!! It was very thorough, informative, interactive and fun!! Joany delivers the course material in such an easy way to follow; and in such a humble way. Loved it and would strongly recommend this course! Joany is so encouraging to all students and gives so many helpful tools to build the students’ confidence to become a belly dancing teacher! Thank you Joany for sharing your experience and passion for the beauty and healing power of Belly Dancing.

The Belly Dance Teacher Intensive Program has been inspiring and has solidified many aspects of the Belly Dance business and dance movements. I haven’t been in a class setting for quite some time and so this training was invigorating as well. I also appreciated the additional tools and material presented in class for future practice. Thank you Joany.

Hello everyone 🙂
I apologize in advance for this long post, but I’d like to share my story with you because it may
resonate with some and perhaps help them. My family and some of my friends know about what Ivwill open up about, but for some of you, this revelation may be a surprise.

I grew up loving music and dance, but didn’t have the opportunity to take lessons. That all changed
the day a co-worker invited me to meet Joany Gauvreau and take a dance class. It was a belly dance class! Much to my surprise, I was hooked from the start… It was the most fun I had ever had exercising (which at the time, was not high on my list of priorities). As a busy wife and working mother of two, I started dancing to get some much-needed “me” time, as
a fun way to get moving and socialize with other moms. I quickly realized that the music and movements made me happy and allowed me to get in touch with my feminine side again.
Dance also improved my physical fitness, increased my self-confidence, and reduced my stress. In 2007, I was injured in a car accident and, as a result of the injuries I sustained, I live with chronic
pain on a daily basis. Doctors and therapists involved in my care have always encouraged me to keep dancing due to its many benefits to my physical and mental health. Despite having to juggle my duties at home with a demanding career as a healthcare professional, I truly believe that belly dance
has not only kept me mobile and made me stronger, but it has also allowed me to continue to enjoy life. … And what girl doesn’t like to wear sparkly costumes? … Lol.

I’m so thankful that I met Joany and that she has been such an important part of my life for over 12 years. Now she will embark on own journey, traveling the world, teaching and performing. I wish her well and know that she will continue to be a mentor and friend. This leads me to why I’m posting this. I believe it’s now my time to give back to Joany and the art of belly dance. When she first saw the heart and spirit of a teacher in me years ago, the time was not right for me to answer that call. Now that I have more experience and am on my own journey to improve myself… mind, body and spirit, I feel it is time to unveil and be my truest self to help others
discover the many benefits of belly dance.

I have now been certified to teach Level 1 Beginner belly dance and hope to inspire and empower
women to discover the art, dance, and rhythms of Middle Eastern dance (also called Oriental
Dance), and learn to love themselves enough to dance like nobody’s watching.
For those of you who may be interested in my teacher journey or taking a class, I will keep you
posted on my plans when I know more. It will only happen when the time and location are right. In
the meantime, remember to take care and make time for yourselves!
